How to Secure an Illinois Wesleyan University Scholarship
Application Procedures, Qualifications, and Timelines.
Illinois Wesleyan University provides a range of scholarships for international students that are pursuing an undergraduate degree. To do well in your application for one of these scholarships it is important to know the eligibility requirements, application processes, and which dates are key.Eligibility Criteria
Merit-Based Scholarships: International students that have outstanding academic records and high test scores are automatically included in our admission pool.President’s Scholarships: Awarded to high achieving first year international students. Also given to those which show great talent and interest.
Need-Based Financial Aid: Available for international students which have financial need.
Application Procedure
Admission Application: Admission Application:
Application Forms: Complete the IWU application or the Common Application there is no fee and we do not prefer either.
Academic Records: Submit certified versions of your academic transcripts from all high schools and post secondary institutions that you attended. Transcripts must include a record of the last three years’ performance, be in English and notarized.
English Proficiency: Present your proficiency in English via one of the following tests:.
IELTS: Minimum 6.5 in the band scale.
TOEFL: At least 80 iBT.
Duolingo English Test: Score of at least 115.
PTE: Score of at least 56.
Financial Statement: Submit the Family Financial Statement. IWU has a need blind admissions policy for international students. Once we see that a student is able to make the required financial contribution of $30,000 USD per year we do not look at their ability to pay in the review of their application.
Passport Copy: Send a scan of your passport in.jpg or.pdf format to international@iwu.edu.
Essay: Include a personal statement in your application.
Scholarship Applications:
Merit-Based Scholarships: No application separate is required, we include all.
President’s Scholarships: Submit your separate application for scholarship by February 15, 2025.
Need-Based Financial Aid: By March 1, 2025, we ask that you complete and turn in the CSS Profile which will include in detail your financial information.
Application Deadlines
Early Action Deadline: In the fall of 2024.
Regular Decision Deadline: March 15th, 2025.
President’s Scholarship Application Deadline: March 5, 2025.
CSS PROFILE Submission (Preferred Deadline): March 3rd, 2025.
