Overview of the MSc in Development Policy and Politics which includes an internship with Mo Ibrahim Foundation 2025.
The University of Birmingham in association with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation is to present an excellent 2 year MSc in Development Policy and Politics. We have designed this fully free of cost program for aspiring African leaders which also includes a practical 6 month internship at the Mo Ibrahim Foundation in London. Program participants will study in depth into governance, policy analysis and political dynamics which in turn will enable them to bring about sustainable growth across the continent.
Which of the applicants are eligible for the MSc in Development Policy and Politics (with Mo Ibrahim Foundation Internship) 2025?
For us to consider you we have that you meet the following criteria:
Have a first class Honors degree (or equivalent) in a related field.
At the time of application you must be under 30.
Achieve a score of at least 6.5 on the IELTS or 580 on the TOEFL.
Be an African citizen living in an African country (we have a preference for those from Sub-Saharan Africa).

Selection Process for Applicants
The two-step selection process includes: In two step we have:
Initial Expression of Interest: Fill out the online "Register Your Interest" form to determine basic eligibility.
Full Application Review: Short we put out the call for full applications which include academic transcripts, references, and a personal statement to the shortlisted candidates. The Program Director does the evaluation of the applications which finally go out to academic merit and leadership promise.

Transcript of enrollment (or proof of pending graduation).
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Career goals and leadership experience statement.
Two academic or professional references
English language proficiency certificate (IELTS/TOEFL)

Citizenship and permanent residence is in an African country. To that which is open for all in Africa we give preference to Sub-Saharan Africa.

Scholarship benefits include:
Full tuition coverage for two years
Round way airfare to the UK and all visa fees.
Arrival allowance of $1,082 for initial set up.
For 18 months’ time a monthly stipend of £1,592.
Intern the Mo Ibrahim Foundation which is a 6 month period.
Access into events such as the Now Generation Forum and the Ibrahim Governance Weekend.
Duration of the Scholarship
The scholarship is for two years:.
Year 1: Full time MSc studies at the University of Birmingham.
Year 2: At the University for six months and in London for a six month internship.
