  • Be from a Chevening eligible country (including Nigeria and over 160 others).
  • Return after 2 years in their home country after which the scholarship is completed.
  • Degree of honor.
  • Have at least two years’ of professional work experience which total 2,800 hours of it.
  • Apply to 3 or more UK master’s programs and have at least one accept you by July 10, 2026.
  • Not hold British or dual citizenship
  • Not to have held a UK study place on a government funded scholarship.

Fields of Study Covered

The Chevening Scholarship does not have application categories for certain fields. Any full time taught master’s degree program put out by a recognized UK university is open to our applicants. Common fields of study are in:

Chevening Scholars may study at any UK university which has a one year taught master’s program. Institutions which are common to see Chevening Scholars at include:

  • University of Edinburgh

  • University of Bristol
Applicants to choose three distinct courses (which may be from different institutions) also which must comply with the Chevening guidelines.

Selection Process for Applicants

The Chevening Scholarship goes to very few and is very competitive:
  1. Application Review: Evaluations of essays and credentials is done by independent reading committees.
  2. Shortlisting: Candidates that pass the eligibility and academic requirements are put forward for interviews.
  3. Interview: Short listed candidates are notified to appear in person at their local British embassy or high commission.
  4. Final Selection: Following which shortlisted candidates go through interviews and present their references as well as academic records  at which point the final choice is made and results are announced.

  • UK which put out or which did not put out offers to begin with.
  • Four well written personal statements on leadership, networking, career goals, and choice of the UK.
English language proficiency tests such as IELTS and TOEFL are at time compulsory for which you will be asked by your preference school, however these are not a requirement for your application to Chevening.
