Overview of The Melbourne Research Scholarship Program.
The University of Melbourne has a very competitive research scholarship which we put forward to high achieving local and international students that are pursuing a research degree at the Master’s or Doctorate level. We have put in place this scholarship to encourage academic excellence which in turn we do through to provide large financial aid and also other benefits to our students. Also we have designed it to be very inclusive which has in turn brought in very talented people from all over the world to be a part of our advanced research in many different fields.
Which groups are eligible to apply for The University of Melbourne Research Scholarship?
For the University of Melbourne Research Scholarship application we have that you must meet one of the following criteria:.
Applied to and met in to the requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
At present I am a research student at the University of Melbourne.
This includes support for both new applicants and current students which are in pursuit of advanced research.
Fields of Study Covered:
The University of Melbourne Research Scholarship includes a large spectrum of fields which cover all of the university’s faculties and schools. Thus scholars may study what they wish in that field which may be science, humanities, social science, engineering or any other field of study.
Universities Included in the Program:
While the scholarship is for the University of Melbourne's use only, it's impact is global in that it attracts international talent. The program which is very much a flagship of the University of Melbourne includes only graduate research degrees.
Selection Process for Applicants:
The selection process is very competitive and is based on academic performance and research promise. Upon application for a graduate research degree at the university applicants are put forward for the scholarship. The selection criteria include:.

Research experience and achievements.
Alignment of the candidate’s research with the university’s agenda.

The University of Melbourne Research Scholarship is available to students from all over the world. Also we have a special invitation for international applicants which include coverage of OSHC for those that require a student visa.
Recipients of the scholarship will benefit from among others:.
Full Fee Offset: Tuition fees covered for as much as two years for Master’s by Research students and up to four years for Doctoral students.
Living Allowance: Provides a yearly stipend of $38,500 (pro rata, 2024 full time study rate) for a term of two years for Master’s students and 3.5 years for Doctoral students.
Relocation Grant: Offers 3K for those moving from outside Australia.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): International student single membership.
Duration of the Scholarship: Length of the Scholarship:.
The scholarship term varies by level of study:.
Up to 2 years for Master’s by Research students.
Up to 3.5 years of study for those in a Doctoral program.
Application Procedure:
