American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship: A Fully Funded Pathway for Future Leaders (2024)
Introduction to the Global Green Leader Scholarship (AU EGLS).
The American University’s Global Leader Award is an elite, full ride scholarship for international students which also aspires to better the world. We give this award to students that have outstanding academic records, great leadership skills, and a passion for social change. Also we are to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those that are devoted to improving the issues in their home countries.Scholarship Benefits and Coverage
The AU EGLS is to cover full cost of:Full Tuition: Covers four years’ worth of study at American University (per year renewal).
Room and Board: Provides in house accommodation and meals.
Additional Funding: Includes tuition but health insurance, books, and airfare are not covered.
This award is given out each year if you are doing well academically and also have had continuous involvement in leadership and community service.
Eligibility Requirements
AU EGLS has that international students which meet the following criteria:Non-U.S. Citizens: Applicants must not be citizens or residents of the U.S.
Academic Excellence: Candidates should be at the top 10-15% of their class with out standing academic records.
Leadership and Service: Applicants must show their engagement in community service and leadership.
Financial Need: Preference is for students that cannot afford to study in the U.S. without this scholarship.
Selection Criteria
The AU EGLS application process is very competitive. We see the main criteria as:Strong Academic Record: Transcript of high school and GPA.
Demonstrated Leadership: Proof of leadership roles and service involvement.
Personal Qualities: Pledged to improving underprivileged communities.
Vision for Change: The applicant’s ability to bring about change in social, economic or educational fields.
Application Process and Timeline
The AU EGLS process is made up of many steps which applicants must follow in a timely fashion:Complete AU Application: Submit the Common or Coalition application for enrollment at American University by December 15.
Submit Scholarship Application: Along with the application for admission please see that you include the AU EGLS application form which should also have your essays and recommendation letters.
Deadlines:
December 15: Application date for AU EGLS.
January 15: Scholarship winners are advised.
April: Scholarship awards are out.
